let's pretend

.
If I had it to do over, I think I would call the backyard zendo here, "Christmas Presents Galore and Thursday is Happy Hour Zendo." Instead, I called it "Black Moon Zendo." No one can see a black moon, but everyone knows what happy hour means.

I might have called it boundless-this or diamond-cutter-that or pick-something-prosaically-sage and it would have been kinder, more accessible, less apt.

It is nicer to pretend you can hold things in your hand or heart when people want to hold things in their hands or hearts. Or pretend you can't hold them in their hands or hearts.

Pretense is such a necessity in the world of greed, anger and ignorance.

Or anywhere else, I suppose.
